While Buick is looking to maintain its five-year streak of U.S. car sales, the classic automaker will definitely score new registrations in 2016 with three new models on the line.

The first to feast our eyes will be the Envision compact crossover that will debut on the 10th of January, before the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The car model will be joined by another premiere of which Buick refused to comment on.

Duncan Aldred, the vice president of Buick and GMC, stated that bringing the Chinese-assembled Envision to the U.S. was essential for the company in order to compete in the hottest segment of cars in the U.S. auto market.

Despite the UAW protesting General Motors’ decision to import the Envision model in this year’s labor negotiations, Aldred announced that GM made some key engineering changes that will give more appeal to the crossover towards the American buyers. He added that “The engines will be of larger displacement. There will be certain comfort and technological features (such as park assist and hyperstrut front suspension) that aren’t available in China.”

This year up until November, Buick sales went down 3% compared to the same period in 2014, the company reaching 202,347 units in the U.S. What prevented sales from going even lower for the brand was the Encore subcompact crossover, which is the brand’s best-selling model out of its five available this year.

Another novelty from Buick in 2016 includes the Cascada model, which is a small convertible imported from GM’s factory in Gliwice, Poland. In terms of the surprise Buick is preparing in January, it could be a production version of the Avenir full-size sedan concept. But we can only wait and see what Buick has in store for us.
